Design systems have conquered the "Atom". We have perfected the button, beautified the toggle, and standardized the token. But there is a massive, gaping void in the modern web design system. Endless libraries of "LEGO blocks" are generated, but very few LEGO boards or instruction manuals are provided. There is a missing piece in the design system toolbox: A Layout System.

For too long, design systems have treated layout as a downstream implementation detail—something handled by one-directional Flexbox "hugging" or browser-based media query "size dictatorships." Our gaze has been fixed on the atomic blocks while leaving the construction baseplate in the blind spot. In this session, I will demonstrate that web layout is not just a container; it is a two-dimensional coordinate system that requires its own spatial governance. I will reveal a model for a "smarter structure"—a harmonic grid logic that scales from a handheld device to an ultra-wide screen with the precision of a digital drafting table.
